About the course
We are delighted to invite you to the first edition of the FEBS Advanced Practical and Lecture Course on Computational Approaches to Understanding and Engineering Enzyme Catalysis, which will be held in Oulu, Finland, on 13-16 October, 2020. This course aligns with the activities of the 3D-BioInfo ELIXIR community and the Biocenter Oulu Protein Crystallography core facility. The course is also funded by the Health and Biosciences Doctoral Programme, University of Oulu Graduate School. It will bring together computational and (bio)chemistry experts.
Our computational expert speakers will give comprehensive lectures and demonstrations on how to use their web-based applications and software, whereas experimental researchers will give lectures on how these in silico tools have successfully guided them towards finding answers related to their research in the field of enzyme catalysis. The aim of this advanced course is to bring together computational and experimental communities providing a valuable bridge between theory and experiment. Our program provides opportunities for active interactions between all the participants through lectures, tutorials, discussions, as well as poster and oral presentations given by the student participants.
The course will take place at the Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (FBMM), University of Oulu, in Oulu, Finland. The venue has an excellent location and is easy accessible. The main lecture hall has approximately 100 seats. It is well-equipped with audio-visual tools and free internet access. There are additional classrooms available for tutorials and hands-on sessions in smaller groups. All these rooms are close to each other and also close to the poster area where coffee/tea will be served in the breaks.
Looking forward to meeting you in Oulu in October!
